Don’t worry, be happy!

What-Worrying-Does

Firstly, sorry about my lack of blogging over the past six weeks… I have been off frolicking at festivals, which you may have gathered from previous posts and enjoying my final summer before my final year at University.

I have been finding that a lot of the time recently when people ask what I’m studying at University, they always go on to ask about what I plan to do afterwards. And for someone who has always struggled with the reality that one day I will have to choose an actual career path for myself, I find this very difficult to answer.

However worrying about the future will not help, so this blog post is aimed to give worriers (like myself) a bit of a boost and 3 reasons why we shouldn’t be worrying about the big old scary future…

It’s scientifically proven that worrying has negative effects on your health

Worrying is perfectly natural, however if a person worries too much, it can have negative effects on their lifestyle. People who worry too much will usually pick up negative habits such as over-eating, eating less, smoking etc. These habits will all have negative effects on your health and can be hard to kick!

Career worriers – On average, a person has 3/4 career changes in a lifetime

Worrying about a career is pointless. If you aren’t happy, change it. Don’t see jobs/qualifications as pointless, despite how little you may be enjoying them – everything is a learning curve and a stepping stone. You will be stepping closer to a job you enjoy each time you find one you don’t.

Life is a journey and you cannot control the future

Although you may wish you could, it is impossible for us to control what will happen next. Some people may seem like they have it easy and fall in to their dream job with minimal effort. This does not happen to everyone. You never know when you may get a lucky break or an amazing opportunity, so don’t worry if at the moment you feel as if you are bumbling along. If you get offered an opportunity, take it and be sure to enjoy whatever life throws at you!

Peace and love and no more worries
