Last night I went out for a much needed night with the girls. And it was so great catching up with them and having a dance! That afternoon, my friend Em and I went for a cheeky trip to New Look to have a browse for some outfit inspiration and I picked up this white top and these heels, planning to wear them with a pair of high waisted jeans for a casual look. When I got home, I was having a little play around with my outfit and I decided to see what it’d look like with my ankle grazing monochrome trousers from Topshop and it randomly just really worked! I don’t often blog about my own outfits, but I loved this look last night. The white top was so flattering – I love the thin straps! And a bargain at £9.99!

I’m also a huge fan of that style of shoe, especially with the shape of my feet – I have very tiny heels so my feet often slip out of shoes, but these were super secure!

A love-list of Winter accessories

I went on a cheeky shopping trip yesterday to buy my best friend a birthday present… and ended up treated myself to a couple of little bits as well… oops!

Hat – New Look £7 (SALE)
Knee high socks – HnM £5.99
Ankle socks – New Look £2.99

At the moment there is a sale happening in New Look on loads of big wooly hats with fairly big reductions! I think the one that I bought was previously priced at £11.99 and it went down to £7! I absolutely love it… it’s nice and thick and cosy, but also the jewels on the front make it sparkle a bit, which is perfect for the Winter season as I love to get sparkly… actually I love getting sparkly in all the seasons…

The ankle socks are really cute with the frills and look pretty with ankle boots… I bought two pairs of these because I am terrible with socks… my sock drawer is full of odd socks and I just don’t understand how it happens!! (oops teehee)

Finally I bought some thick wooly knee high socks from HnM, which I can wear with my favourite Winter boots from All Saints as they come up to calf level. I love these as they are sooo cosy.

If you are looking for a cosy hat for Winter, I definitely recommend taking a trip to New Look – they have so many lovely ones in the sale!!

3 charity-shop shopping tips to help you track down those little gems

charity shopbarnados

Hunting through rail after rail of clothes for that perfect item may not be everyone’s cup of tea…

But with enough dedication and some close attention to detail, you can find so many little gems that would have cost you the earth in another shop. As it is my day off University today, I thought I’d take a little trip out in to Winton high street and have a browse of what the many charity shops have to offer. As a poor University student in my final year, I should not really be shopping… my time should be spent reading up for my lectures and seminars in the rest of the week…. but everybody needs a bit of a treat sometimes, right? All work and no play is bad for us!

As I am a very practised shopper, it did not take me very long to find a bargain hanging on one of the rails in Barnados…

As it is the Autumn season, people are beginning to do the yearly thing of investing in knitwear and big cosy coats and jackets to keep us warm in those cold Winter months. But surprise surprise, these kinds of clothes are the most expensive (more material etc.) and for most of us, not on the top of our list of spending priorities. But if like me, you love the feel of showing off a new item of clothing, then I would definitely recommend a bit of charity shop bargain hunting.

In Barnados, my beady eyes noticed a cosy-looking stripey garment hanging on a rail in my size and I immediately picked it up. You know you’ve found a great bargain in a charity shop when you look at the price and think, “they have definitely priced this wrong, I’d better buy it quickly so they don’t realise and change the price…”
So I tried it on – lucky for me it fitted perfectly – and went and paid for it at the till.

The other wonderful thing about charity shops is that 99% of the time the staff are absolutely grateful that you are making a purchase so you always get a kind smile and a helping hand when needed.

So I walked out with my £4.49 warm snuggly Winter garment and skipped off down the high street.

3 charity shop shopping tips to help you track down those little gems:

  • Allow yourself some time – Don’t rush. You aren’t going to find any bargains if you don’t pay careful attention to what you are looking at. There will be items that you like, so keep your eyes peeled and take your time!
  • Pay careful attention to the sizes on the hangers. It’s no good finding the perfect item if you then realise that it is not your size – remember you can’t just ask for another size in a charity shop!
  • Don’t just visit one shop. There are so many charity shops around, all with different items to offer.

And remember, if you don’t find what you are looking for that day, go again! The beauty of charity shops is that people take in bags of clothes daily, so you never know what new items have come in!

Dolls kill
Now Dolls Kill is not for the faint hearted… and some of the clothes on this website are pretty out-there! However, every time I look on this site, there are always some gems that I am after! And if there isn’t, I just love the styling of the website images. I fully intend to plait my hair like that and do the make-up above all summer long!

It’s not all that cheap… but it’s so much fun!

I love these Drivin’ Mizz Daizy Sunglasses ($60) They are too cute… I’m definitely going to go on a cool-sunglasses-hunt at festivals this summer and see if I can find any bargains!

May Birthday Beauty BARGAINS from The Body Shop

Image

Today, after work, I decided to take a little trip to The Body Shop to buy some BB cream and some more Peach body butter (because it smells way too dreamy) and I ended up… (OK, with more than I went in for – oops!) with all this… for only £30!

And being The Body Shop, that is an absolute bargain, not to mention, all the products are delicious.

So I will tell you a little bit how it went… (so if you have a May birthday – get involved!!)

  • The new Instablur and BB cream together were £20… because instablur is their new primer that has just been released
  • I also thought I’d grab some powder (because I’m naughty) and wanted completely flawless skin
  • I then trotted over to the all the body butters and body mists… and popped them in my basket and skipped over to the till, expecting to have over-indulged and emptied my purse

But then this happened at the till…

I was asked if I had a Body Shop card, to which I replied no – as normally these are annoying to fill out and don’t save you much.

But the till assistant told me that with a Body Shop card, it was 30% off today – so if I bought one (for £5) I’d have already saved money…

So I said “OK” and signed up.

She then told me that because I’d spent over £20, I could get a free body butter… but I already had one, so asked to get that one free. Great another saving.

She also said that I could get a free eye gel. Brilliant.

Finally, I was told that with the card, you can get £5 off on your birthday month… Luckily for me… it’s my Birthday month!

So with all my savings… £29.05 – AMAZING.

I SAVED £24.45 !!!

So girlies with May Birthdays who are wishing to smell and look incredible for an absolute bargain… Head to The Body Shop! 🙂
