Kate Moss (31) Winter lipstick loving

Recently I purchased one of Kate Moss’s Lasting finish lipstick by Rimmel. I am such a huge fan of the Kate Moss lipsticks as I love the range of colours on offer, but I thought I’d try number 31. this time because I wanted a Wintery red, ready for Christmas (teehee – sorry!)

I wore it yesterday for uni and although I think an 8 hour lasting time is a little generous, it is such a nice colour and although it is a bold red, can be worn quite casually. Normally I find red lipsticks look better on people with blue/green eyes, but I think this one works quite well with brown eyes because it’s a deeper, cranberry-ish colour. It does look a lot less red on – as you can see from the picture. As with all red lipstick, I’d definitely recommend lip liner as it tends to smudge with all lip activity! (I’m on about eating obviously!)

I think it’s a really lovely Winter lipstick, and would highly recommend… Need to try out some of the other Kate Moss colours – so far I’ve only gone for shades of red, so need some recommendations!

Cosy days and sparkly ways

Firstly, I want to say sorry for not having blogged in a month! Crazy behaviour! I have been ridiculously busy settling in to final year at uni… it really is just as hectic as they say! Looking forward to the degree at the end of it though! 🙂

I just wanted to write a little post on what I love so much about Autumn/Winter clothes…

What I do not enjoy is the rain.. and the cold… and getting in to uni looking completely dishevelled and like a drowned rat. However, I do love those cosy times when you put on a big snuggly jumper and it’s frosty and pretty outside.

Also, what is totally brilliant about this time of year, is that party-wear gets SEQUIN-Y and VELVETY and YUMMY.

Topshop’s Party Rules gives you some great tips on wearing sequins… which is worth a read if you like to sparkle! However, in my book, there are no rules about how sequin-y you can be… the more the better! 😉

The sequin range is also amazing… SEQUIN JOGGERS…. YES PLEASE. These will be making the Christmas list cut!

3 charity-shop shopping tips to help you track down those little gems

charity shopbarnados

Hunting through rail after rail of clothes for that perfect item may not be everyone’s cup of tea…

But with enough dedication and some close attention to detail, you can find so many little gems that would have cost you the earth in another shop. As it is my day off University today, I thought I’d take a little trip out in to Winton high street and have a browse of what the many charity shops have to offer. As a poor University student in my final year, I should not really be shopping… my time should be spent reading up for my lectures and seminars in the rest of the week…. but everybody needs a bit of a treat sometimes, right? All work and no play is bad for us!

As I am a very practised shopper, it did not take me very long to find a bargain hanging on one of the rails in Barnados…

As it is the Autumn season, people are beginning to do the yearly thing of investing in knitwear and big cosy coats and jackets to keep us warm in those cold Winter months. But surprise surprise, these kinds of clothes are the most expensive (more material etc.) and for most of us, not on the top of our list of spending priorities. But if like me, you love the feel of showing off a new item of clothing, then I would definitely recommend a bit of charity shop bargain hunting.

In Barnados, my beady eyes noticed a cosy-looking stripey garment hanging on a rail in my size and I immediately picked it up. You know you’ve found a great bargain in a charity shop when you look at the price and think, “they have definitely priced this wrong, I’d better buy it quickly so they don’t realise and change the price…”
So I tried it on – lucky for me it fitted perfectly – and went and paid for it at the till.

The other wonderful thing about charity shops is that 99% of the time the staff are absolutely grateful that you are making a purchase so you always get a kind smile and a helping hand when needed.

So I walked out with my £4.49 warm snuggly Winter garment and skipped off down the high street.

3 charity shop shopping tips to help you track down those little gems:

  • Allow yourself some time – Don’t rush. You aren’t going to find any bargains if you don’t pay careful attention to what you are looking at. There will be items that you like, so keep your eyes peeled and take your time!
  • Pay careful attention to the sizes on the hangers. It’s no good finding the perfect item if you then realise that it is not your size – remember you can’t just ask for another size in a charity shop!
  • Don’t just visit one shop. There are so many charity shops around, all with different items to offer.

And remember, if you don’t find what you are looking for that day, go again! The beauty of charity shops is that people take in bags of clothes daily, so you never know what new items have come in!

A wine glass… made of GLITTER… what more could a girl want?

Since I last blogged, I have moved back to Bournemouth for University and am currently settling in with my gorgeous housemates in our little, girly, homely flat. I just wanted to write a short post about a flat warming gift that one of my housemates gave to me, as it is right up my street and definitely put a smile on my face after hours of lugging suitcases to my room in our upstairs flat!

She bought us each a wine glass from a company called Glittery Glass. They make glass products and (as the name suggests) cover them in glitter! As I am a massive girl when it comes to things like this, it made an amazing present! If you are a girly girl who likes the odd glass of wine 😉 or are looking for a present for someone, I strongly recommend checking out the Facebook page for some glittery treats!

Follow Glittery Glass on Instagram too!

(And as seen above, my other housemate cooks me TASTY meals so I’ve hit the jackpot with these girls!)

I need this face in my life every day

ImageImage

I know I usually blog about clothes, but have gone home for bank holiday weekend and saw this little cutie at home and my heart filled with mush and I needed to capture her cuteness.

I challenge you to find a cuter dog… because believe me, you won’t.

I need this face in my life every day. Who could be sad with this little thing in their life?!

Big love to my gorgeous Olive x
