A perfect Easter Vitamin D-Detox that you will not forget!

After a weekend of a fair amount of chocolate and unhealthy bits and bobs, a detox was much needed! But instead of heading to the gym, I thought I’d take advantage of one of the most beautiful days of the year so far and climb a big old hill to burn off a few of the chocolate calories – and it was a great decision!

Before starting my day, I had a rainbow fruit salad for my breakfast, as I needed some vitamins and colour in my life, before picking up my friend and heading to Hay-on-Wye. It’s such a gorgeous little town and we had a walk round all the shops and lusted over some amazing looking fudge (but carefully resisted!) … However, we may have given in to ice cream temptation at Shepherds – no regrets! I had peanut butter and chocolate and mint choc chip…. Yes, this is still a detox if you’ve seen the size of Hay Bluff (the hill)!

It was such a gorgeous day to be doing it that I didn’t even think about the exercise… I highly recommend a day out walking up a hill if you are lacking fitness inspiration – the views were absolutely incredible. And I must have burned off a few eggs and the ice cream at least!

Vitamin D from the sun can prevent bone abnormalities, brittle bones and can help increase resistance again some diseases. The sunshine is also a mood enhancer, which will lift you out of your easter chocolate coma!

10 reasons that you cannot replace chocolate

Lately, I’ve been doing some clean eating and don’t get me wrong, have been enjoying it. However, after countless efforts of attempting to make a healthy chocolate moose, I am just not convinced that anything will be quite as satisfying as the real thing… So here are my ten reasons why to eat chocolate!

1. Chocolate has always been there for you. A break up, a bad day, you name it – chocolate has always been your friend in times of need, and always will be.

2. A chocolate moose that is made with predominantly banana… will taste like banana. Tried and tested.

3. Chocolate stimulates the release of endorphins, which makes you happy. Everyone needs a bit of happiness in their lives.

4. At Thorntons, you can buy a shot of melted chocolate. There is nothing in the world that could ever replace that. You do know that.

5. Dark chocolate is good for you and contains antioxidants…
If you’re already eating dark chocolate, you might as well eat all chocolate.

6. There is probably as many articles online claiming chocolate is good for you as there are claiming that it isn’t. That’s the beauty of the internet.

7. You can’t get a “bad bar of chocolate” like you can get a “bad plate of food” or a “bad apple”

8. Because chocolate fountains exist. Valid reason.

9. Everyone is secretly jealous of you when you are eating a bar of chocolate.

10. Chocolate isn’t judgemental.

Will you ever question chocolate again? I hope not.

Actual Healthy Pancakes – Tried, tested and STRONGLY APPROVED!

pancakes
Yes, these deliciously yummy pancakes are actually healthy!!

As a pancake lover (lover is probably an understatement) I was pretty skeptical about how these would turn out… How can pancakes that taste like pancakes actually be healthy? But they can!

All you need to do is warm up a pan, add a little coconut oil
Meanwhile, blend 2 eggs, a banana and a table spoonful of chia seeds
Cook the pancakes for about 30 seconds on each side
Add a topping of your choice – (I went for blueberries and a drizzle of lemon!)

And there we have it! Healthy pancakes – perfect for breakfast or a snack, and you don’t have to feel guilty about eating a whole stack!! … honestly they are a dream. My mind is blown.

Firstly… Happy new year everyone!

I am very sorry to have not blogged in a while, I’ve been very busy over the festive period, but I hope you all had wonderful times!

This is just a simple blog post to tell you all, that 2015 is our year! 🙂
I’m expecting great things from this year and I hope everyone else feels the same – I just have a good feeling about it!

My plans for 2015 are:
To finish University – I will have an actual degree!
To go travelling – time to explore the world a bit!
To look after myself more – eating better, exercising more etc. (OK, everyone says it, but I mean it!)
To learn how to do more things, become less lazy and more happy!

As you can see by my pictures, I’ve been investing a bit of time in to eating healthily… I even taught myself to make poach eggs today!

So lets smash 2015! 🙂

Peace, love and happiness for a new year

Feeling pretty Vegucated…

Chipotle Grilled Tofu Tostadas

I recently watched a documentary called Vegucated, which was about making people aware of the cruel way many animals are treated before being slaughtered, so that humans can eat meat or dairy products daily. It was a bit of an eye-opener and I’ve decided to slightly re-assess my diet and try and be vegan for a bit…
There are many health benefits that come with being vegan, so I’m going to test it out and see whether I feel happier and healthier. So far today, I’ve eaten lots of fruit, some Vegan bars that I bought and some crispbreads and houmous… and I’ve drunk a lot of green tea – as usual! If you’re thinking of becoming vegan, these bars from Nakd. are yummy! Image My friend who is vegetarian and vegan one day a week said that Waitrose do Pesto tofu, which is apparently amazing, so I’m going to give that a go! 🙂 Stay happy and healthy, Peace and Love x
