How to get really BIG lashes (with one of the cheapest mascaras)

I personally don’t think you need to spend a lot to get good mascara. I also think that depending on your lashes, different mascaras suit different eyes. Having searched high and low for the mascara that will maximise my eyelashes, I feel that Maybelline really hits the nail on the head. Because I have fairly long lashes, I like mascaras with fairly big brushes. Maybelline’s Colossal Go Extreme Mascara in Leather Black is AMAZING. Unlike lots of new high street mascaras being brought out at the moment with new innovative brushes being sold at £8 or £9 (which I am ever so slightly sceptical about) this mascara is ONLY £6.99! And the brush is just lovely and big perfect for huge eyelashes.

I normally start by coating the tops of the lashes to ensure that they are completely covered, especially when wearing eyeshadow powder that may drop down on to the lashes. Next, take your brush to the roots of your lashes and shake the brush gently to get a nice thick effect at the base of the eyelashes. then brush upwards a few times. Make sure you brush outwards as well to get the lashes in the corner of the eyes. – I personally think this makes the eyes look really pretty. Leave each eye for about 10 seconds then do a quick second coat, but not too much because you don’t want clumpy eyelashes!

If you want a gorgeous huge eyelash effect – I highly recommend. And why not for only £6.99!

Peace and love and huge lashes x

Chanel Mademoiselle VS. My Burberry

11122410_10152950169143264_2049763877_n

Both gorgeous luxury brands, both gorgeous bottles… but which to choose?

My favourite perfume of all time, is Chanel – Chance. But it is my summer choice, so I’m going to hold out buying it until it reaches at least May! (My birthday is also in May so hint hint!) But on my shelf at the moment, I have these two beauties. Firstly, Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, which my Mum donated to me after going on Holiday over Easter… Beats an Easter egg hands down so thanks Mum!
And secondly, Burberry – My Burberry, which was given to me for Christmas by my lovely boyfriend.

To start with, the packaging. If you’re like me and like to carry a perfume round in your handbag, then the Coco Mademoiselle is the more transportable option. My Burberry has a fairly large top to it, and the bottle is a bit more chunky in general.

Coco Mademoiselle: 1
My Burberry: 0

However, I am a bit in love with the classic and elegant appearance of My Burberry. The trench coat-styled lid and the taupe ribbon looks so classy and it’s the kind of perfume that looks like a bit of a treasure with it’s gold swirly writing.

However, not a great deal can beat Chanel’s classic bottle – appealing to a possibly younger lover of pink gorgeousness!

Coco Mademoiselle: 1 ?
My Burberry: 1

I absolutely love the smell of My Burberry, and was completely won over by the Cara Delevingne/Kate Moss advert, despite being a Marketing student! However, it is quite a heavy scent and I would say that it is more an evening perfume than one for the day. It is a deep floral smell that was created to capture a British image, with it’s stylised trench coat top. It has good staying power, lasting for 6 hours I’d say before fading.

Coco Mademoiselle is a lot lighter and more subtle – an easier wear in the day time I find. I am a bit of a sucker for sweeter, lighter perfumes so I find this one suits me better I think. I feel like it is a younger perfume than the My Burberry. With jasmine and rose undertones, it is light and girly. I find that Coco Mademoiselle is has slightly less staying power, but I tend to carry the cute little bottle around with me!

My Burberry: 1

Price: (At Boots, because that’s where I tend to purchase my perfume)

£67.50 – 50ml – Coco Mademoiselle
£65.00 – 50ml – My Burberry

Coco Mademoiselle: 0
My Burberry: 1

So all in all, they are both TOP NOTCH fragrances, and I cannot really fault either, because I am madly in love with both. Personally, Coco Mademoiselle is more of my day scent and My Burberry is for an evening, but which ever you choose, you will smell delicious!

Which one do you prefer?

Style of the day…

Finally, the sun is here! This week has been gorgeous on the weather front, which makes me very excited to crack out the summer wardrobe! As you can see, I’ve recently had a balayage on my hair – blonder for summer! And I love it. Because I’ve got dark features, the roots match my face, but the softer lighter ends make it so much more summery looking.

I love this playsuit I bought from Urban Outfitters, by Silence + Noise (£39). I bought it a while ago and wore it with tights and boots, but now the sun is shining, it looks great with bear legs! It’s plain, so can easily be glammed up with jewellery to make an impact, but can also be worn casually. The style of the back is slightly drapey and crosses over to show a bit of skin. It’s so versatile, you can literally style it however you fancy.

Also wearing a bag and denim jacket from Topshop and black ankle boots from Primark. Loving denim jackets at the moment!

I’ve braided my hair in a French plait around my face, leading down in to a normal braid – I’m loving experimenting with styles from Pinterest at the moment. My balayage means that you can really see the detail in the styles.

Peace and love and summer style x

Or even wear it through to the evening with a bit of bright lipstick (Rimmel – Kate Moss is my absolutely fave!)

Wanderlusting daydreaming

Wanderlust: ” a strong desire or impulse to wander or travel and explore the world”

All I can think about at the moment is traveling. Procrastination from the dissertation takes me to lusting over exploring new places…

However, this post is actually about a jewellery brand combining my wanderlusting with one of my other favourite things… Shopping for pretty things. Wanderlust jewellery is a bohemian jewellery brand inspired by travel. And I’m now obsessed. They have so many gorgeous designs, including beautiful elephant rings rings and “wish in a bottle” necklaces (my personal favourite!)

I follow Wanderlust Jewellery on Instagram and the gorgeous pieces of jewellery always catch my eye! I would recommend lovers of jewellery and serial wanderluster’s to check them out!

Peace love and Wanderlust

A love-list of Winter accessories

I went on a cheeky shopping trip yesterday to buy my best friend a birthday present… and ended up treated myself to a couple of little bits as well… oops!

10805214_10152618513103264_1258846123_n10754862_10152618513168264_1389813020_n10805041_10152618513263264_1911846064_n10581657_10152618513203264_1736257244_n

Hat – New Look £7 (SALE)
Knee high socks – HnM £5.99
Ankle socks – New Look £2.99

At the moment there is a sale happening in New Look on loads of big wooly hats with fairly big reductions! I think the one that I bought was previously priced at £11.99 and it went down to £7! I absolutely love it… it’s nice and thick and cosy, but also the jewels on the front make it sparkle a bit, which is perfect for the Winter season as I love to get sparkly… actually I love getting sparkly in all the seasons…

The ankle socks are really cute with the frills and look pretty with ankle boots… I bought two pairs of these because I am terrible with socks… my sock drawer is full of odd socks and I just don’t understand how it happens!! (oops teehee)

Finally I bought some thick wooly knee high socks from HnM, which I can wear with my favourite Winter boots from All Saints as they come up to calf level. I love these as they are sooo cosy.

If you are looking for a cosy hat for Winter, I definitely recommend taking a trip to New Look – they have so many lovely ones in the sale!!

Somerley Tea Party – Happy Festival Review

Its-Okay-to-Be-a-Glow-Stickme

What a lovely, happy, pretty festival.

This weekend I visited the magical enchanting woodland party spot that was Somerley Tea Party – a boutique underground electronic music festival. STP is a new festival, on the outskirts of the New Forest, taking place in the heart of the grounds of Old Somerley.

The festival location was absolutely perfect. There were high walls surrounding the main grass area, or you could walk through the walls and off in to the enchanted woods, full of decoration, stalls and cocktail bars. With a great line up featuring artists like Eats Everything and Ben Pearce, it was a sunny portal transporting me right in to a summery world of fun and dancing.

And what a perfect place to wear my gorgeous summery Ragged Priest Sample Sale jacket, which arrived that very morning (as seen above – bargain!!)… I was definitely in my element.

Best things about Somerley Tea Party

  • It was sunny! – OK, the organisers didn’t control this… but it definitely kick started everyone’s summers!
  • No drinks were over £5 and water was completely free – Nothing worse than having to pay extortionate amounts at festivals for water when it’s hot and everyone is getting dehydrated
  • Obviously the music…. great line up, amazing summer vibes
  • The location – Couldn’t have asked for a better location for a one day festival… gorgeously decorated… spacious… (woods were very Boomtown-like)

– The festival could have done with a couple more food stalls, there were only a couple and I love my festival food(!)… and maybe a few more toilets, but they are my only reservations!

A glorious little festival… I would absolutely recommend going in 2015!
